On February 15th Sam, Claire Foy and director John Alexander will attend a preview screening for White Heat plus a Q&A session afterward. You can buy your ticket here.

Scripted by award-winning writer Paula Milne (Small Island, The Fragile Heart), White Heat concerns seven characters who share a student flat in London in 1965. The serial explores their interwoven lives, loves and betrayals, set against the social and political backcloth of Wilson through Thatcher, via feminism, hedonism, union strife, the Falklands and HIV to the present day. It explores how our lives are shaped by the choices we make, which are governed by the opportunities society affords us.

We are delighted to announce that joining Paula Milne on the panel will be cast members Sam Claflin (Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, United) and Claire Foy (Little Dorrit, The Promise) and director John Alexander (Small Island, Exile). Chaired by BBC Controller of Drama, Ben Stephenson.

Articles about this were swirling around a few days earlier but since nothing was confirmed I wasn’t too sure about posting it but decided to go ahead. Keep your fingers crossed for Sam!!

Warner Bros. has found its Lancelot for the planned King Arthur movie Arthur & Lancelot. The Killing star Joel Kinnaman has won the role and is in negotiations to star for director David Dobkin, who also wrote the script.

The role of Arthur has yet to be cast, and sources say Kinnaman will now do chemistry reads with several of Hollywood’s up-and-coming leading men. As THR first revealed, the casting process for the two leads has included such hot actors as Kit Harington (HBO’s Game of Thrones), Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Dominic Cooper (The Devil’s Double), Hans Matheson (Sherlock Holmes), and Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe) in the UK and Ben Walker and Liam Hemsworth in the U.S.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star keen for sequel return

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides star Sam Claflin has said that he is hoping to come back for a sequel to the Johnny Depp blockbuster.

The British actor, whose missionary Philip was last seen being pulled to the bottom of the ocean by mermaid Syrena (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey) in Pirates 4, admitted that he is keeping his fingers crossed for a return in Disney’s planned follow-up.

Claflin told Digital Spy: “All I can do is say I hope, and keep my fingers crossed, that I will be [asked back].

“I think the beautiful thing about my storyline is that it’s left with an open ending. It can go any way. I could turn out to be a mermaid myself, but I could also get out the other side and live on land or I could die!

“They could go anywhere with it. I hope that if there is another one I’d be involved.”

Claflin admitted that he struggled to speak when he first met Depp on-set, who was in-costume as his Pirates alter ego.

“The first time he waddled towards me in his Jack Sparrow manner, it definitely sort of took me back. It took me a moment to even pluck up the courage to say anything,” he explained.

“The thing is, he’s such a welcoming kind of guy that he never made me feel pressurised by his stardom. He’s so down-to-earth that he always makes jokes about how he looks or what he’s doing.

“It immediately broke the ice and the nervousness [went away]. There were a fair few pinch yourself moments and that was definitely one of the first.”

Kristen Stewart will be a “diamond” Snow White, says co-star Sam Claflin

Kristen Stewart will do a “diamond job” in Snow White and the Hunstman, says her co-star Sam Claflin.

The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides actor, who plays Prince Charmant in the fairytale re-telling, told Digital Spy that Stewart will relish the challenge of playing a character so different to her Twilight alter ego Bella Swan.

“I’ve only done one tiny scene with Kristen so far, but I have every hope in her,” Claflin said. “I truly believe and trust in her and I’m pretty sure she’ll do an absolutely diamond job of it.

“I’m pretty sure she’s excited about the challenge.”

Stewart and Claflin’s Snow White project, also starring Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen and Chris Hemsworth as The Hunstman, will be released next year shortly after Tarsem Singh’s rival Snow White movie led by Lily Collins and Julia Roberts.

Clafin insisted that he isn’t concerned about the other Snow White movie, adding that two similar stories can exist side-by-side.

He explained: “They’re two completely different projects altogether. As much as they’ve obviously got the same premise, you could say that about so many things. The Hangover and The Inbetweeners, for example, are different films but basically about boys going out and getting drunk.

“The beautiful thing is I think both directors have very different ideas of where they’re going with it. I have a friend who’s in the other one so it’s nice that we keep each other updated. I’m excited to see that one as much as I’m excited to see the one I’m in.”
